The Little Elm Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce they were selected as a Merit Recognition Award winner for 2019 by the Texas Economic Development Corporation as part of the TEDC’s Community Economic Development Award program.

The Little Elm EDC received this recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Community Economic Development for the development of Flix Brewhouse, a 35,000-square-foot cinema brewery, featuring first-run movies, award-winning, on-site brewed beer, and hand-made food.

Flix opened in May of 2018 and has been a fantastic addition to the Town of Little Elm. Flix has brought increased sales tax dollars, earning themselves a spot as one of the top ten sales tax producers in the Town.

They have brought more than 150 jobs to the Town, with 50 percent of staff labels as “career” staff and the remaining 50 percent as hourly employees.

With an average of 2,000 tickets sold daily, Flix has taken 12 percent of the local movie theater market, as patrons from all over the area take advantage of this outstanding venue.

Flix has proven that it has a regional draw pulling from several of the surrounding communities that border Little Elm.

“Flix is an incredible addition to the Town of Little Elm,” said EDC Director Jennette Espinosa.

With the addition of Flix, the rest of the Main Marketplace, an 18-acre, mixed-use development with multifamily housing, office space, and retail opportunities, has flourished. At nearly 140,000 square feet, this site is a 41 million dollar capital project and an economically viable development for the Town of Little Elm.
