Many of you may have noticed the construction on Eldorado Parkway. Although it is a temporary hassle, the end reward will be well worth the wait you might experience getting around town. In order to prevent accidents and keep traffic moving smoothly, it is important to exercise safety when driving. Here are some construction safety tips.
Slow down: While construction is occurring, it’s important to obey the speed limit. Not only do traffic fines increase if you are caught speeding in a construction zone, but it is important to preserve the safety of the construction workers who may be near the road as well as other drivers around you.
Pay attention: Construction can cause sporadic changes in traffic. It is important to pay attention while you are driving so you are aware of what is happening on all sides of your vehicle. Frequent braking can easily cause wrecks, and that is something we definitely want to avoid. Watch for signs that urge you to slow down, and pay attention to workers who may be directing traffic. Speed limits often change during times of construction, so look out for any lowered speeds around town.
Be courteous: We know construction-induced traffic can be frustrating, but we want everyone to have a safe and pleasant commute, so try to keep your distance from other cars, allow cars to merge into your lane if needed, and remember that the cars around you are carrying your friends and neighbors.
Give yourself time: Many times, people become angry or reckless in construction traffic because they are in a hurry. We will try to update the road closures, suggested alternate routes, and areas to watch for as much as possible so we can help you with your daily commute across town. If you are supposed to travel through a part of town that is scheduled for work that day, it is probably best if you give yourself extra time so your drive is as hassle-free as possible.
