The Little Elm Economic Development Corporation was selected as the Bronze Award recipient for the 2019 International Economic Development Council Excellence in Economic Development.

The award-winning program was The Lakefront at Little Elm in the Multi-Year Economic Development, Population 25,000 – 200,000 category.

The Lakefront at Little Elm is an 847-acre area within the incorporated jurisdiction of the Town of Little Elm and includes both commercial and residential development and an area along Lewisville Lake.

The Lakefront was established to be a destination district, with a “staycation” feel and resort appearance, featuring retail, restaurants, recreation amenities, and different housing options.

“We are proud that the Lakefront was recognized by IEDC, and believe that the Lakefront at Little Elm is continuing to develop into a premier destination in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” said Little Elm Economic Development Corporation Director Jennette Espinosa.

An exciting new project for the Lakefront is already underway: the Little Elm Aquatic Park. Located next to the Little Elm Recreation Center, the 42,000-square-foot indoor facility will feature a retractable roof, play structures, a splash pad, cabanas, concessions, and a mezzanine terrace.

Another part of the Lakefront is soon to be underway with the second phase of the Palladium Little Elm. This development is a mixed-use project with a resort-style feel designed to feature multi-family living, retail, restaurants, and a park.

The IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards is an annual program that recognizes the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders. These 34 awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities.
